This 5 year old TB filly presented with an acute swelling at the base of her neck and mandible. Physical examination revealed a snotty nose, pale mucus membranes and bilateral firm swelling on either side of the neck at the base of the mandible. She was running a fever of 103.4 and her breathing was labored. The mare was in respiratory distress.
